Still a better movie than Venom. And #ImANationalist was trending on twitter last night. Good stuff.

James Waterman Wise, Jr., in the “Christian Century” (Feb.5, 1936): fascism will be “wrapped up in the American flag and heralded as a plea for liberty and preservation of the constitution”.
Halford E. Luccock, in Keeping Life Out of Confusion (1938): “When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism.'”
Harrison Evans Salisbury, in The Many Americas Shall Be One (1971): “Sinclair Lewis aptly predicted in It Can’t Happen Here that if fascism came to America it would come wrapped in the flag and whistling ‘The Star Spangled Banner'”.
“I’m betting these men were all leftists. If so, it would be easy to understand how they would misattribute fascism to the Right.”
ROFLMAO.
Wikipedia: “Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of radical authoritarian ultranationalism”
Merriam-Webster: “a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader,”
Welcome to reality!
“According to Snopes, the Sinclair Lewis quote is false.”
Which is why I didn’t actually quote Sinclair Lewis anywhere in my comment. 😉
He shared the sentiment, but he never said the exact words that are often attributed to him. These other men are the ones who got closest to using those words, which is why I quoted them instead.
The first picture on the Wikipedia page is “Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, the fascist leaders of Italy and Nazi Germany”
Their politics were of the left, as was Stalin.
Yeah, no. In fact, a big impetus to power for Mussolini was the murder of a **socialist** politician who opposed him (Matteotti) in 1925.
Again quoting wikipedia: “Opposed to liberalism, Marxism and anarchism, fascism is placed on the far-right within the traditional left–right spectrum.”
Oxford dictionary: “An authoritarian and nationalistic right-wing system of government and social organization.”
Keep trying.

@Contrarius-
Benito killing a fellow socialist does not make him a right winger. People of the left have a history of being violent. They are all about power and control over others and they often project. It is easy to understand their hatred of America and anyone who identifies with and loves the American.
@Jason-
Leftist countries killed more of their own countrymen last century than wars between nations.
In most countries of the world, it is common to find the populace expressing love and pride for their countries. In the United States, the same expression of love and pride is often seen as evil by those who are not Americans in their heart and soul.
“Benito killing a fellow socialist does not make him a right winger.”
You are missing the point. The point here is that the socialists OPPOSED Mussolini.
In fact, Mussolini and the other Italian fascists themselves acknowledged that they were part of the right wing. For instance:
“In the 1920s the Italian Fascists described their ideology as right-wing in the political program The Doctrine of Fascism, stating: “We are free to believe that this is the century of authority, a century tending to the ‘right,’ a fascist century”.
“People of the left have a history of being violent.”
It’s very funny to read this on a morning when the news is telling us about **bombs** that have just been intercepted on their ways to Obama, Clinton, and Soros.
Violence is a tool of the extremes, whether right or left. But as law enforcement agencies across the country will be happy to tell you, in this country right-wing terrorism is much more of a danger than other sources of terroristic activity.

They were obviously sent by the pedophiles hiding in the non-existent basement of that pizza parlor. I’m sure folks like Alex Jones think so.

And sure enough, today the would-be bomber has been arrested.
And he just happens to have been caught on video at a Trump rally wearing a MAGA hat.
And his van just happens to be covered in pro-Trump stickers.
