I’ve been ignoring the truth for a long time, but I’m getting very into fitness as of late. I haven’t really discussed it on here much but I’m training 3x a week, then playing tennis 3x a week which has me in close to the best shape of my life in the last three weeks.
This summer, though, I want to push it from “being happy and not obese” like I’ve been these last couple of years to “being very athletic and fit” which is a different ballgame and level of commitment.
As I look into it, alcohol really makes that transition a problem and if you are familiar with me, you know I love to party as a hard as I work so I often indulge on the weekends.
Mike Cernovich posted, however, showing data on how these habits actually screw up my sleep and recovery patterns and therefore my workouts even up to 4-5 days after the fact:
The tweet thread goes on to detail how performance is negatively impacted. It’s a killer. I’ve been putting this off for awhile but I think it’s time to make the jump to quit. At least while I’m working hard on building here. We’ll see how it goes.
