I’ve hesitated to write this because I have so many friends in the arts, especially comics, who are making conservative or right-leaning alternatives to Marvel and DC’s woke content that’d be killing the comic industry. If you’re not on here, sorry! These are just my top 5. It doesn’t mean yours isn’t good too!
Obviously, I’m not going to put my books on the list either because as much as I love promoting, I don’t need to be that narcissistic. Let’s get to the list, and these are in no particular order:
5. Kyrie by Matt Crotts
Kyrie follows an unlikely team of treasure hunters as they race to escape Alexandria with the Red Lady of Babylon – an infernal ruby coveted by both Roman and Persian Empires, containing an encrypted message. It’s set in the ancient Roman Empire and offers a lot of intrigue, very different from your standard superhero fare.
4. The Colossals by Ciderhype
The year is 2030; the world has dramatically changed in the decade of peace following Star Supreme’s rise to the global stage. However, even in an era of larger than life heroes, impossible miracles and logic defying technology–evil still flourishes. This is a beautiful superhero book that does the work of worldbuilding on top of giving a solid adventure. Unfortunately, it is not available as of this writing.
3. Psycho-Killers by Von Klaus
This book is a psychic thriller about assassins in a battle royale in a style that feels a lot like manga. It’s a lot of fun, and if you like action-packed anime, this is for you.
2. Shadow Of The Conqueror – Enemies of Self by Shad M. Brooks and Mike S. Miller
This feels like a Brandon Sanderson novel in a comic. A beautiful start to what I hope will be a redemption story when the arc closes with an evil tyrant lamenting his reign.
1. The Lucent by Michael Bancroft
The Lucent is like Inception, the comic book. Gorgeous art and storytelling all around.
There’s a lot of good stuff out there, but this is a great list of works you might not have heard of because there are not many people talking and promoting this kind of product. I hope you find something you enjoy and’ll check out our work here, too!
