Is Zack Snyder done ruining Sci-Fi movies? In a recently published interview with the Atlantic, Snyder lamented that there is so little original intellectual property left for him to ruin. However his eyes did light up when he thought of one enduring franchise he hasn’t touched yet, Ian Fleming’s James Bond spy thrillers.
Fandom Pulse has reported on the underwhelming performance of Snyder’s Rebel Moon before: “The film is receiving a less-than-stellar reception, marking a record low on Rotten Tomatoes for the director. The sci-fi epic, initially conceived as a Star Wars pitch, has garnered a perfect 0% score for Top Critics on the review aggregator site, signaling trouble for the Netflix project.”
A certain Amelia wrote of Rebel Moon on IMDB: “Ouch. The reviews are in for Rebel Moon, and this is the sort of bad that can end an entire career.”
Pondering the movie industry’s obsession with strip-mining old source material, Snyder said: “I mean, like, how much IP is there?” But about James Bond, Snyder said: “It’d be cool to see, like, 20-year-old James Bond.” Snyder added he would want to explore an origin story for Bond: “The humble roots that he comes from. Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond,” and added: “There has to be something there.”
To be fair to Snyder, the James Bond franchise has already been ruined by concern trolls, feminists, and assorted woke cultists. The ruin started with a seemingly innocuous smoking ban for Bond in movies after Die Another Day in 2002 but went downhill fast from there to where Bond acted like a doting lovesick puppy when he asked Strawberry Fields in Quantum of Solace if she wanted to go to a party. The real James Bond would have slapped her butt and tell her: “Put on your party shoes, we’re going out.”

Contrast Sean Connery as James Bond in Goldfinger (1964). Bond tells the cute blonde Dink to say goodbye to Felix. Bond then turns her around by the shoulders and playfully slaps her butt as he says he and Felix have some “man talk” to do. In the latest instalment, fans of the franchise got a wimpy James Bond that needs rescuing by a “strong black woman” in No Time To Die. So stunning and brave.
On the other hand, considering that Snyder would want to explore “Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond”, making Bond worse still is indeed possible. Why do these woke cultists all believe that bravery and daring can only be born from trauma? Is it a need for an explanation for their own inadequacy? Anyone who has spent time around brave men will tell you that trauma is not treason for their bravery and daring.
Tell us in the comments, do you think Snyder should do a deconstruction of James Bond?
