Legendary Batman artist and co-creator of Bane, Graham Nolan, has revealed what he has in store for comic book fans for 2024, and it looks promising! Nolan, the man behind Compass Comics, wanted a platform to “tell the kind of stories I want to do and read. Tales of adventure, heroism, horror, and romance without the moralizing and political messages so prevalent at the modern “big two” publishers, Marvel and DC Comics.” To nobody’s surprise, that was exactly what comic book fans wanted too, and last week, Nolan revealed in a tweet that he is bringing back two fan favourites in 2024 – Monster Island and Joe Frankenstein:
“2024 is going to be AWESOME!
1: RETURN TO MONSTER ISLAND (sign up list coming soon!)
2: JOE FRANKENSTEIN: THE EYE OF RA
3: ESCAPE FROM MONSTER ISLAND

In a tweet on the last day of 2023, Nolan revealed some panels from the new Monster Island saga. For those who missed out, the first Monster Island comic can be ordered from Compass Comics here. The first installment follows the adventures of two navy pilots who crash land on an invisible island. Monster Island is action complete with aliens, monsters, and even a space princess.
Writing truly humor and page-turning suspense seems to be an art form lost on most comic book creators these days. This is not the case with Nolan. Monster Island has a certain old-school charm that comic book connoisseurs will appreciate, which means that Return to Monster Island and Escape From Monster Island will be among the most anticipated comic books of 2024.
What if Frankenstein’s monster was still alive and looking for redemption? What if Frankenstein’s monster was a vampire slayer and protector? Well, if you are a fan of the action-horror genre, you need look no further than Nolan’s Joe Frankenstein. Nolan has already treated comic book fans to two parts of the Joe Frankenstein saga, which, as with the first installment of Monster Island, you can buy at Compass Comics. Joe Frankenstein has so many twists and turns it would be difficult to give a more detailed description without spoilers.
In both the previous Monster Island issue and the Joe Frankenstein issues, the artwork was outstanding, and if the panel teasers revealed by Nolan’s tweets are anything to go by, we can expect the same outstanding quality in the upcoming issues of Monster Island and Joe Frankenstein.
