“Star Wars” has a a new film crafted by Steven Knight (“Peaky Blinders”) and brought to life by director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. It will see the return of Daisy Ridley’s iconic character, Rey, to the grand cinematic stage. Obaid-Chinoy has already drawn fire for her comments making claims she’s first woman and the first person of color entrusted with directing a feature film in the “Star Wars” universe. This was proved false, since Deborah Chow has made “Star Wars” television shows, showing the full hypocrisy of the diversity crowd.
Taking the helm of “The Jedi Order,” the upcoming Star Wars film, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is taking on a character no one wants a sequel in with Rey. Prior to this, Obaid-Chinoy’s directorial repertoire included a documentary and a notable role as one of five directors on “Ms. Marvel.”

However, Obaid-Chinoy’s remarks sparked mixed reactions within the Star Wars community. “I feel what we’re about to create is something very special, so I’m very thrilled about the project” Obaid-Chinoy recently told CNN, “Now that we’re in 2024, it’s past due that a woman steps up to help shape a story in a galaxy far, far away.”
Rob Leonardo of StarWarsNews.Net expressed disappointment, urging her to focus on delivering an exceptional film rather than emphasizing her identity as a female director. The call for genuine storytelling and cinematic excellence should take precedence over discussions of diversity and equity; especially with a franchise with a (still) dedicated fanbase like Star Wars.
“This is a disappointing statement from Sharmeen. If her focus is that she is a woman directing a Star Wars film, her focus is in the wrong place. If she was attempting to get the fans excited, she likely has done the opposite. This endless quest for virtue signaling has to end. Make a good film Sharmeen. Blow the audience away. Bring Star Wars back to the center of entertainment with a movie so engaging, exciting and well made, it will leave audiences and critics cheering. Do that and you can talk about being a woman all you want and people will cheer. Until then, please stop sounding like you are working in Disney’s PR department with a focus on diversity and equity.”

This is not the first time she has used cinema’s ability to manipulate the minds of filmgoers. Obaid-Chinoy co-chaired the 47th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, a pioneering feat for an artist. During this event, she pushed the globalist agenda and shilled for the elites who are collapsing our soceity.
On a presentation at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in January 2016, she said, “I’ve seen my work being used for affecting government policy,” and she displayed some footage from her documentaries that looked at the human cost of conflict.“
This link between creative, social and economic success is gaining increasing recognition. As the first artist to co-chair the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos, my aim is to cement that link even further. I want to show business leaders that they can and should join the global conversation about arts and social change.”
While rumors about the commencement of shooting for Daisy Ridley’s movie in April were debunked, the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy-directed Star Wars film remains on the horizon, possibly gracing theaters in May 2026. As the anticipation builds, discussions about potential cast members are likely underway.
Alongside “Jedi Order,” Lucasfilm is set to enchant fans with two more “Star Wars” movies: Dave Filoni’s project, concluding the storyline woven through TV shows like “The Mandalorian” and “Ahsoka,” and James Mangold’s exploration of the Force’s origin story.
