The dreaded M-She-U curse may strike again with the rumoured introduction of a sex swapped Iron Fist in Marvel’s upcoming Eyes of Wakanda.

The iconic character Iron Fist (Daniel Thomas “Danny” Rand), created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane, first appeared in Marvel Premiere #15 (May 1974). The character is a practitioner of martial arts and the wielder of a mystical force known as the Iron Fist, which allows him to summon and focus his chi. Yu-Ti, the hooded ruler of mystical city of K’un-L’un, apprenticed him to Lei Kung the Thunderer, who taught him martial arts and toughening his fists by plunging them into buckets of sand, gravel, and rock.

Danny proved to be the most gifted of Yu-Ti’s students, and when Danny was 19 years old he was given the chance to attain the power of the Iron Fist by fighting and defeating the dragon Shou-Lao the Undying. Having beaten and killed Shou-Lao, he plunged his fists into a brazier containing the dragon’s molten heart, emerging with the power of the Iron Fist. Later in the comics it is revealed that Danny is among a long lineage of Iron Fists.

Marvel’s Netflix adaptation starring Finn Jones did to some extent follow Iron Fist’s origin. Now rumours have started circulating in social media, hinting that the M-She-U curse is going strike again. There is a rumoured introduction of Iron Fist in the upcoming Eyes of Wakanda animated series. What adds the M-She-U twist to the rumour is the claim that this rendition will be a female iteration of Iron Fist.

According to the rumours, the female Iron Fist in Eyes of Wakanda will not be the iconic character of Marvel Comics but an entirely fresh addition crafted exclusively for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (M-She-U). This newly imagined character is said to bear the moniker Janora and is purportedly set to make her debut in the animated series alongside a Wakandan companion named Basha.

If the rumour is true the new M-She-U portrayal of Marvel’s Iron Fist will be a mere skin-suit of the original Iron Fist, a mockery of the character’s legacy. According to the rumour Janora, the presumed female Iron Fist, will collaborate with Basha, a Wakandan warrior, within the narrative of Eyes of Wakanda. Positioned as a spin-off from the Black Panther film franchise, this animated series is meant to expand the Wakandan narrative, exploring a broader narrative within the MCU.

Noteworthy is the implication that this animated debut in Eyes of Wakanda may serve as a precursor for a future live-action manifestation. This speculation gains traction when aligning with earlier rumours suggesting that the established portrayal of Danny Rand by Finn Jones might undergo a transition, potentially making room for Janora’s ascent in a live-action context.

Does Marvel believe fans are now only allowed to have female superheroes?
