Gunn confirms that Batman will not be in Superman Legacy and in other news Captain America will not appear in Captain America: Brave New World.
In the upcoming DC Superman film, Superman: Legacy, directed by James Gunn, Batman will be absent despite earlier rumours. Gunn confirmed this in response to a fan query on Threads, stating simply that Batman isn’t in the script. The absence of Batman is departure from expectations fuelled by earlier rumours suggesting Ryan Gosling’s involvement as the Dark Knight. Gunn’s response, marked by an eye-roll emoji, hinted at the absurdity of such speculation but never explicitly denied Batman‘s potential appearance, leaving room for continued questioning.
Despite the lack of Batman, the cast of Superman: Legacy is already known to some extent. David Corenswet takes on the role of Superman, accompanied by Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Supporting characters like Eve Teschmacher and Jimmy Olsen will be portrayed by Sara Sampaio and Skyler Gisondo, respectively. Additionally, Supergirl is set to make an appearance, with Milly Alcock or Meg Donnelly rumoured for the role.
Scheduled for release on July 11, 2025, Superman: Legacy serves as a reboot for the DC Universe under Gunn’s direction. It’s the first in a series of planned films, including The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing. While Batman won’t feature in Superman: Legacy, he’s expected to appear in subsequent films, particularly The Brave and the Bold, which focuses on the Bat family.
In other news, Captain America will not be making an appearance in Captain America: New World Order. This follows the previous controversy about the initially titled Captain America: New World Order, which faced backlash and was renamed Captain America: Brave New World. The original title drew criticism from the elites due to its association with the real-world antisemitic “conspiracy theory” of the same name.
The term New World Order, according to the normies, elites, and boomers, allegedly has roots in “antisemitic beliefs,” pointing out that Jewish people are orchestrating a global conspiracy for their benefit. In a move that totally proved the “conspiracy theorists” wrong about a certain group’s undue influence, also in Hollywood, the producers in Hollywood decided to appease critics of the term New World Order and changed the name to Captain America: Brave New World.
In a further controversial move, Hollywood decided that black superheroes can’t be real superheroes and that black superheroes need to cosplay as white superheroes to be successful. The Falcon (Samuel Thomas “Sam” Wilson) was introduced by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Gene Colan in Captain America #117 (Sept. 1969), and was the first Black American superhero in mainstream comic books. Samuel Wilson, known by his superhero alias Falcon, uses mechanical wings to fly, defend, and attack. In an incredibly disrespectful erasing of the first Black American superhero in mainstream comic books, they’re making Falcon cosplay as Captain America.
Captain America: Brave New World marks Sam Wilson’s debut as Steve Rogers’ successor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Anthony Mackie will be the cosplaying Captain America, joined by Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, Carl Lumby as Isaiah Bradley, and Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns. Harrison Ford replaces William Hurt as Thaddeus Ross in his M-She-U debut.
