To be clear, Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is a terrible game with almost zero redeeming qualities. The Live Service model being as unpopular as it is instantly made many consider this to be another looter-shooter cash grab title, but it was when leaks for the story emerged months ago that fans of the Arkham series and Rocksteady Games became concerned. And those same gamers held out hope these leaks were just another troll attempt to rile them up.
This was Rocksteady Games! The company that had given gamers the single best narrative experience was Batman. Even to this day Arkham Knight, a game released in 2015, has visuals that dwarf current AAA releases. But alas it was all true. Fans of the Arkham games, whom SSKTJL was being targeted towards as it was set in the Arkham verse, were rightfully upset.

We’ve already covered the outrage, the disrespect shown to beloved characters and the deep and fundamental misunderstandings the writers of Sweet Baby Inc. & Rocksteady showed towards these characters. The reason why is to show that these criticisms are valid and that fans are rightfully upset. And while we’ve seen a myriad of deflections to valid criticisms before, a writer for Sweet Baby Inc. has taken the disgusting step of using Kevin Conroy’s dead body as a shield.
The story begins when Amy decides to brag about her involvement in the game as one of the writers and receives backlash for it. The official account for Sweet Baby Inc. had the common sense to put their X account into protected mode, but for Amy, she lacked said foresight.
While there seemed to be an attempt to initially “Hide” replies to her tweet Amy seemed to have abandoned that idea as she was brigaded by angry fans. And had the story been left there it would be something to laugh at. While you should take pride in your accomplishments, SSKTJL is a failure worthy of only shame and ridicule.
But Amy seemed incapable of accepting that and in an attempt to turn the narrative away from her awful job as a scriptwriter, she decided to dig Kevin Conroy’s corpse out of the ground to use as her personal shield from criticism.
While most gamers are loathe to defend an outlet like IGN, broken clocks are right twice a day. Though their initial review of the game was more tepid, they only gave it a 5/10 and cited some of the same issues fans had brought up.
However, in another article from Jesse Sheeden of IGN they explained the controversy around using the Arkham Batman, Kevin Conroy’s Batman, in this game. While IGN does mention Kevin Conroy their article just talks about how his role was wasted. And specifically makes it about how Arkham Batman was wasted in the game.

But Amy would take this as an opportunity to invoke Kevin Conroy’s death. Claiming to have been his friend and stating she knows what Kevin actually wanted. Given how Amy objectively lied about the content of the article though, and how thin-skinned she’s been in handling valid criticisms it’s almost a joke to pretend her word has any merit.
What makes it worse is that the article actually ends by letting fans of Kevin Conroy know that this is not his final voice-acting role as Batman and that he will make his final appearance in Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3.
It’s impossible to say if Kevin really would have been proud to be a part of SSKTJL and it’s rather ghoulish to even ask the question. But not as ghoulish or disgusting as Amy using his corpse as her personal shield from criticism.
What are your thoughts on the controversy surrounding SSKTJL and do you think what Amy did crossed a line? Make your voice heard in the comments!

Amy-Leigh Shaw makes to sick to my stomach. Using Kevin Conroy’s passing as a deflection for the way she handle Batman’s death in the game.
Nigel Jones says
I have been having a blast with this game. Combat feels great and the endgame is crazy addictive. If the leaks are true, Batman will be making his return in the December update. All this complaining and the story isn’t even finished yet.
