Stephen Amell, best known for his role as the Green Arrow in the hit T.V. series “Arrow,” has transitioned from a superhero to a pro wrestler and now to a lawyer in the highly anticipated “Suits” spin-off, “Suits L.A.” The series centers on Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who represents powerful clients in Los Angeles. As his firm faces a crisis, Ted must embrace a role he once held in contempt to survive.

“Suits L.A.” features a group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while their personal and professional lives intertwine. The events that led Ted to leave everything and everyone he loved in New York years ago gradually unravel. Ted Black is described as a charismatic force of nature who puts his needs above others and moved to L.A. 15 years ago to build a firm specializing in criminal and entertainment law with his old buddy, Stuart Lane.
This spin-off differs from traditional spin-offs like “Pearson” in that it is a brand extension featuring new characters in a new location. While original “Suits” characters will not be involved, a crossover could occur further down the line.

At Megacon 2024, Amell was asked about the possibility of reprising his role as Oliver Queen for James Gunn’s DCU. Amell expressed openness to the idea, but only under the right circumstances. He stated, “I love playing the character, and I loved being a custodian for the character. People have their favorite versions of characters, but nobody gets to play a character forever. If the opportunity is right, then it’s right. And if it’s not, then whatever.”
In a controversial moment, during his appearance at GalaxyCon in North Carolina, Amell got into difficulties for criticizing SAG-AFTRA’s rules against promoting current or previous work. “I support my union, I do. And I stand with them. I do not support striking. I don’t,” Amell said in July. “I think that it is a reductive negotiating tactic. I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating. I think the thinking as it pertains to shows — like the show that I’m on that premiered last night — I think it’s myopic.”
Amell later clarified his remarks and attended the picket line. “From an intellectual perspective, I understand why we are striking, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t emotionally frustrating on many levels for everyone involved,” the actor wrote in a social media post.
As Amell moves from the world of superheroes to that of law, fans can expect an exciting new chapter in his career. With his charisma and talent, “Suits L.A.” has the potential to become a hit series in its own right, capitalizing on the success of the original “Suits” and Amell’s strong fan base.
