Paradox, played by Matthew Macfadyen, serves as an agent of the TVA, introducing Deadpool to the MCU and offering him a chance to become a hero among heroes. His role appears crucial in integrating Deadpool into the larger MCU story line. The TVA, introduced in the Loki series, plays a significant role in maintaining the timeline and enforcing temporal order. The movie will explore the Multiverse, showcasing interactions between characters from different dimensions.
Rumours and speculation abound regarding additional characters and their potential involvement in the film. Reports suggest appearances from characters such as Elektra and Pyro, among others, expanding the roster of mutants and allies in Deadpool & Wolverine. Set photos and trailers hint at action-packed sequences, including encounters with TVA agents and threats from the multiverse.
The presence of the TVA raises questions about their motives and agenda in recruiting Deadpool and other heroes. As the MCU continues to expand, with implications from the events of Loki and other series, Deadpool’s inclusion signifies a significant development in the overarching story line. With the TVA’s involvement, potential crossovers with other MCU characters and story lines become increasingly likely, setting the stage for future arcs.

Matthew Macfadyen’s Paradox, a TVA agent is not to be confused with Marvel’s comic book Paradox. Marvel’s comic book Paradox, created by David Quinn and Melvin Rubi first appeared in Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #61 (November, 1993) During Zarathos’ “Siege of Darkness,” Dr. Strange ventured into Null-Space to enhance his powers. Creating doppelgangers, Vincent Stevens amassed wealth while Strange aided the Midnight Sons. Battling Salomé, Strange joined the Sons, bonding in the Rite of the Dagger.
To confront Salomé again, he gathered magical artifacts, clashing with foes. Salomé suspected Vincent, triggering a pursuit. Despite defeats, Salomé exposed the Strangers’ true nature, draining them. Desperate, Strange sought mergers but failed. Captured by the Clave, they escaped, but a rift formed between Strange and Vincent. To save Vincent, Strange merged with Nobel, birthing Paradox. Now loyal to Clea, Paradox aids in the Dark Dimension, but his connection to the Kynd hints at a return to Earth.

Matthew Macfadyen’s Paradox more closely resembles Marvel’s Mr. Paradox, crafted by writer/artist Walter Simonson, who made his initial appearance in Fantastic Four #353 (June 1991). Within the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a temporal organisation, he collaborates with counterparts such as Mr. Tesseract and Mr. Ouroboros, all stemming from clones or variants of Mark Gruenwald. This bureaucratic assembly oversees temporal matters within the Marvel Comics universe.
Overall, Deadpool & Wolverine promises to deliver the irreverent humour, action-packed sequences, and multiverse intrigue that fans have come to expect from the Deadpool franchise. As the Merc with a Mouth ventures into the MCU, accompanied by Wolverine and a diverse cast of characters, audiences can anticipate an exhilarating cinematic experience that bridges the gap between different dimensions within the Marvel universe.
