Popular Twitch streamer (Vanessa) GothixTV called out Black Girl Gamers and said that they are the Jussie Smollett of gaming, after they claimed they are victims of misinformation, slander, harrassment and death threats. In December 2021, Jussie Smollett was convicted on five charges related to his false claims of being assaulted, received a 150-day jail sentence and was fined $145,000 for fabricating a hate crime report to the police. The incident occurred in Chicago in 2019.
Black Girl Gamers posted on X: “The last 3+ wks, we’ve been subjected to rampant misinformation, slander, harassment (note: healthy criticism is fine), even death threats. No person/org should be exposed to this behavior. We do not (& never have) condone this behavior toward us, nor on our behalf.,” and still denies discriminatory hiring parctices adding: “Oh, and don’t worry, we have the receipts to prove this hiring discrimination rhetoric is bogus too…this why it’s important to fact check if you’re going to call yourself a ‘reliable news source’.” (it is noted that Black Girl Gamers have yet to post these “receipts” on X).
In response, Twitch streamer (Vanessa) GothixTV called out Black Girl Gamers as profiteering race-baiters, charlatans and grifters, opportunists that dictate the narrative to reap the benefits of the billion-dollar equalities sector. GothixTV posted her reply on X: “I find it comical that anonymous messages get their attention, yet harassment coming from VERIFIED member’s of THEIR OWN community seem to either fly under the radar, or are justified as “accountability”. Yeah, right. Black Girl Gamers are the Juicy Smooyay’s of gaming.”

In an earlier video, Twitch streamer (Vanessa) GothixTV exposed the blatant racism directed at her that shockingly eminitated from black members of The Cookout and Black Girl Gamers community, even going so far as to target GothixTV’s black husband, insinuating that he was white. GothixTV said she experienced more racism from black members of those communities over the course of four days, than she did in her entire lifetime.

Yet, even after compiling a list of the most nasty, derogatory things from both of the Black Girl Gamers and The Cookout communities into a Google Drive and sending it to the community manager, Black Girl Gamers did nothing about their own VERIFIED members’ racism and bullying of (Vanessa) GothixTV. GothixTV points out that the Black Girl Gamers and Cookout communities are supposedly there to support black gamers, but points out that it really is only about politics and support of a particular narrative. As Vanessa pointed out in her video: “But the second it’s your own people, where’s my protection now? Where is it? Oh, yes, it’s because of, what do you call it, respectability politics? Yeah, the dominant culture that you want to adhere to is that of black excellence where you just “Yas, queen,” and clap back on social media thinking that you’re somehow eradicating racism as a result.”
(Vanessa) GothixTV’s experience with the Black Girl Gamer community once again underscores that these DEI “consultancy” companies are all about exploiting a victim-hood narrative, and if you have different views, then you are the “wrong kind” of black, which makes the Jussie Smollett comparison apt.
