There have been signs of turmoil heading into the From The Ashes relaunch of the X-Men line at Marvel Comics. Between editor Tom Breevort airing his frustrations at fans and the lackluster reception to the announcement and trailer for the new line. Now, it seems the creative teams are bracing for a failure, according to a new rumor from a Marvel insider.
The X-Men franchise has been embattled over the last several years with poor storylines and a complete mess in the Krakoa era ever since Jonathan Hickman left the titles to far less talented writers. Marvel Comics planned a reboot a few months ago under the stewardship of editor Tom Brevoort, who has already caused problems by disrespecting long-time fans and blocking readers he politically disagrees with on X.
Warning signs have been clear for X-Men’s forthcoming reboot. Tom Brevoort teased changes with an image labeled “From The Ashes” before arguing with fans about what would come and telling them it would be a political book, saying, “the message is the premise.”
The Marvel Comics editor took to his blog to further confirm that he hates fans who disagree with him politically, calling critics of his tweet “cretins” in a bizarre follow-up to his original post. Then, when the X-Men relaunch creative teams got announced, he complained that few people were watching the Marvel Comics trailer for the upcoming event, which bodes ill for excitement levels on the project.
Helming Uncanny X-Men is long-time feminist activist Gail Simone, who has been creating stirs on X as well with baiting posts about “transphobia” in the leadup to the X-Men launch, which makes some fans wonder whether this will be more of an X-Them when her ideology is paired with Tom Brevoort’s comments.
Now, a Marvel Comics insider has come forward to Fandom Pulse to say the creatives at the X-Offices are already pre-blaming fans for an X-Men relaunch failure, citing that fans have “unrealistic expectations” for the X-Men franchise.
What could be meant by unrealistic expectations isn’t clear, as there hasn’t been much fan buzz around yet another reboot of the X-Men. However, an insider has already warned that the X-Office is a culture of fear, where people are afraid to speak up because they might get fired.
Blaming fans seems to be par for the course for Marvel Comics pros, as Tom Brevoort has already shown proclivities toward doing such in the past. Gail Simone has to be nervous as she is getting to the point where she has to make her last stand on a major property, as Marvel Comics typically ages out writers and churns for the next generation of cheaper talent when someone is Gail Simone’s age.
Fandom Pulse reached out to Gail Simone for comment on the X-Men relaunch and fan expectations, but she did not reply.

There are three truths here:
1. This series will fail colossally.
2. Tom Breevort is a big, fat talentless hack who slurps man-milk from Saint Floyd’s cosmic blackhole.
3. If you buy any of these comics you are a tool deserving ridicule.

The three biggest lies in America right now:

2) the check is in the mail
3) the fans are the reason [x] failed….

Fan expectations?
I expect comics to be entreating, well written and well drawn.
If that is unreasonable, it says more about modern day marvel then me.
But then I am so old that I remember when “X-Men” referred to a comic book team, not the people working on the comic!

* Entertaining. But I DO entreat Marvel to be entertaining.
