Hello friends and readers! Answer: not updating my blog, certainly.
I had a weird period over June/July where I kept getting sick repeatedly and it sapped my energy pretty bad. My goal for the summer was to write a hard science-fiction novella for the Panverse novella series edited by the glorious Dario Ciriello (who you can check out all their awesome anthologies and more at http://www.panversepublishing.com/ — really great publishing company, I’m not just saying that). However, that went by the wayside very quickly with the sickness and then more important projects that spawned from San Diego Comic-Con.
Like last year, I managed to sneak onto a panel at the con this year, this time about the #freebabylon5 movement, on attempting to get Warner Bros. to allow that property to breathe somewhere out on TV or Cyberspace. It was fun, met a lot of great like-minded friends there.
Because of Comic-Con, I have a book out to a publisher, and am working on a pitch for another both of which I can’t talk too much about right now until I have more info. Stay tuned.
With getting the book out to a publisher, I got myself pretty thoroughly burned out on editing, reading, fiction in general, and so I delved pretty hard back into gaming. I’ll be working with the GM team for Legend of the Five Rings’s official play-by-post game, Winter Court. You can apply for that here: http://www.l5r.com/2014/08/02/winter-court-iv-player-applications-open/ I made some memes to promote that:
And then I actually developed my own card game! It’s really neat, and pretty fun so far. A multi-player strategy based game that’s simple enough to pick up and play. I’ll be play-testing that over the next few weeks to see if it’s up to snuff and will have more details on that again soon as well. Maybe I’ll blog a little about its development if there’s interest.
Flying Sparks is still going, albeit slowly due to art considerations. My art team needs to focus on their other projects, so it’s understandable. If you haven’t read in awhile do check out http://www.flyingsparkscomics.com
If you want to come see me speak on writing and other things. Come see me at Con-Volution 2014 in Burlingame, CA! For details on the Convention, go here: http://con-volution.com/2014/ It takes place on Sept 26-28th.
