Who Are The Modern Masters of Sci-Fi

November 30, 2018 by Jon Del Arroz Leave a Comment

Got a blog question from David this morning asking who I consider to be the modern masters of sci-fi, a great question. Off the top of my head:

John C. Wright

Mark Wandrey

Robert Kroese

Lois McMaster Bujold

Richard Fox

Elizabeth Moon

Jay Allan

Daniel Arenson

Robert Venditti  (X-O Manowar and Green Lantern modern comics)

Brad Torgersen  (For his short fiction)

There’s someone up and coming who doesn’t quite have the catalog yet but I’d also recommend Dominika Lien.

I also don’t think I’m quite there yet as I’m too new to this game, but give me five years. A great sampling can be had in Make Science Fiction Fun Again, as I’m pushing concepts and fun in sci-fi in ways that big publishers could NEVER do.

Any list that doesn’t contain Nick Cole is objectively wrong. His Wasteland trilogy alone puts him at minimum in the top 10.

You forgot Jim Butcher, SM Sterling and John Ringo.
