All the buzz over the weekend about End Game from the usual suspects has been that “it’s not enough representation”. “When are we going to have an LGBT hero?” Combined with media posts golf clapping for Marvel for apparently having a gay hero in it (I didn’t see the movie).
This is the next big push. They want to put the death knell in the coffin of the family by propagandizing in these already too-violent children’s movies to force all of this in front of every American household’s eyes. It’s on the agenda, and they’re going to start pushing in this next phase:
Marvel’s production chief Victoria Alonso says it’s time a gay superhero appears in the MCU franchise.
“The world is ready, the world is ready,” Alonso told Variety at the Los Angeles premiere of “Captain Marvel.”
The subject of LGBTQ representation in the MCU has been a hot topic on Twitter this week after The Hashtag Show reported that Marvel was looking to make the lead superhero in the upcoming “Eternals” film gay and that the casting search has already begun.
Alonso stopped short of confirming the rumor, but said, “We are going to cast the best ‘Eternals’ cast that we can and when we’re ready to announce it we promise you we will.”
She emphasized how committed Marvel is to diversity.
The comics were just a testing ground. They know no one cares about those. But they’re about to go full tilt on you in your movies, just like major TV shows like Game of Thrones have done in just over the top crazy.
But keep getting excited for these movies and giving them money.
Or do something different like checking out Flying Sparks, as I’m one of the only alternatives out there producing the equivalent of monthly books with my comics. I’m not going to play the representation game in my books, I’m focused on telling fun stories and rebuilding culture. You can still get Volume 2 through BackerKit here.
