The mainstream comic industry put out a hashtag #PencilsDown which has later been coopted by people dancing on the graves of the comic book industry.
The establishment of publishing is really stuck because of their monopolistic distribution deal with Diamond Comics. It means they can’t get any product out whatsoever.
With the industry already in dire straights, we already know it means this will be the death of comic shops. As much as i love my local comic shop owner, it’s hanging on a thread, and outside of the Marvel/DC it’s nearly impossible for comic creators to make money through that system anyway.
The indiegogo crowdfunded outrage crowd though isn’t really doing much more than these industries, however. You’ll notice most of their books are “collectible” much in the way the fake comic industry is — where they do small print runs, let something go artificially out of print, in order to temporarily drive up demand.
I reject this system, because I know at the end of the day the collectability doesn’t matter. Only stories matter. And while many of these crowdfunders ignore professional writers like myself, it’s why when their short term legacy-style printings will evaporate, I’ll be able to continue on in comics forever through the strength of my stories.

I’m releasing comics just like a mainstream publisher, with as many releases as a mainstream writer. It’s the best-kept secret on the internet for now. Get in so you can say you were one of the early readers when this all explodes. It’s only a matter of time because we are your only regular option while on quarantine.
