Draw & Talk Comics introduces the eerily familiar sister characters of Mara and Lucia in a water demon-battling paranormal plumbing adventure! Illustrated and written by Tyler Carpenter with additional art by Erwin Prasetya and edited by Patrick Dwyer.
The comic was launched as a Kickstarter campaign earlier in 2023 which made $20,747 from 675 backers. The campaign offered several variant covers as well as a digital edition.
The story opens with the young adult female heroes battling slimeball monsters for a little old lady; armed with quick-wit, quick-reflexes, and high-tech plumbing gadgetry our heroes start to slug it out but have to finish it off with a sewage pump!
After the battle sisters are victorious, they talk about growing their business, bantering as sisters do. Carpenter plays them off of each other in his writing to show their contrasting personalities. These heroes are young, cute adult women, so of course, there are the usual arguments over boys, specifically, the love interest of Lucia: Alfredo.
As coincidence would have it, Alfredo calls the girls to let them know everybody in his apartment is screaming and that they all need help, but then… THEY FIND HIM!
Carpenter has created a cute, clever, and fun homage to manga and gamer culture. He’s used screen tones for a classical manga appearance to the pages.
He’s also rated Super Plumber Sisters Chapter 1 as “T” for 12 and up due to mild action/violence, monsters, and humor.
Rating: 7 out of 10: Classical manga goodness, action, and an homage to gamer culture make this a fun read!
Super Plumber Sisters Chapter 1 is coming soon to Tyler Carpenter’s website at DRAWANDTALKCOMICS.COM
