With the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Marvel Studios is taking some intriguing turns. With plans to gradually integrate everything they have acquired, one huge team-up could have comic book fans thrilled as an X-Men vs. Avengers film may be on the horizon.
Marvel Studios acquired the X-Men when Disney purchased 20th Century Fox and now have access to fan favorites like Wolverine and Deadpool, as well as, villains like Magneto. Various X-Men characters have been introduced throughout the MCU. Professor X made a brief appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, a variant from another universe, similar to Beast‘s recent appearance in The Marvels. However, as the franchises become more intertwined in future projects, it appears that the studio will have many more opportunities to explore what many fans expected; the X-Men to fight alongside the Avengers, or perhaps the opposite.

An idea has been “tossed around” in an article by Cosmic Circus that “involves an Avengers vs. X-Men MCU film set between the members of the 616 Avengers and the X-Men.” While technically possible, the publication notes that it is simply “too early to discuss.” so “as the X-Men have not yet made their way to the 616 universes just yet.”
Several sources have already confirmed that Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, America Chavez, Billy Maximoff, and Tommy Maximoff will be among the Young Avengers. Other possible Marvel characters have been mentioned, including Theodore Altman, Axl Heimdallson, RiRi Williams, Eli Bradley, and Skaar.
There have been discussions about mutants playing a larger role in the upcoming phase of the MCU multiverse saga than originally anticipated. This is in the hopes of establishing mutants on Earth-616 for audiences to attach to before the end of the saga. Some ideas include a Mutants series on Disney+ focusing on individual stories for several mutants (a la What If…) or a future X-Men film under the Marvel Studios banner prior to Avengers: Secret Wars.
The first film on the schedule will be X-Men ’97, to be released in April or May of 2024. The upcoming film is a direct sequel to the Marvel animated series from the 1990s. Following the conclusion of the original series in 1997, it is set to continue covering the events of this universe’s iteration of the X-Men into the MCU. Following X-Men ’97 is the highly-anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine film; teased as a multiverse road trip film that will eventually cross over into the main 616 universe/MCU.
Aside from the story arcs mentioned above, Marvel will attempt to tell a few other stories in the coming years. To begin, one of the most eagerly anticipated projects is the MCU debut of Marvel’s First Family, The Fantastic Four. There’s reason to believe (though unconfirmed) that Marvel’s First Family will consist of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing. Antonio Banderas could play Galactus, and Anya Taylor-Joy could play his herald, a gender-flipped Silver Surfer. Oh, and Mads Mikkelsen appears to be cast as Doctor Doom in the MCU.
According to sources, the film is a cosmic adventure with multiverse implications; making it one of the more important films in the saga, as it will lay the groundwork for the Multiverse concepts in Avengers: Secret Wars.
There is also a lot of talk about adapting World War Hulk and bringing in the Avengers to handle that situation. Bruce Banner has been trying for years to keep this secret so that no one can ever become the Hulk or use the Hulk’s abilities for evil or personal gain again is one of the pivotal elements in this story arc.. Bruce’s efforts will ultimately fail, as Marvel Studios intends to introduce more Hulks into the MCU.
The first will be introduced in Captain America: Brave New World, when President Thunderbolt Ross, played by Harrison Ford, transforms into the Red Hulk. According to sources, this will have disastrous consequences in the MCU story, possibly leading to a future World War Hulk project. This is a possible “Civil War-style project,” similar to other Avengers films, in which heroes will band together to combat several Hulk threats around the world.
All of this should be taken as speculation, but if true, could be a jumpstart the MCU desperately needs to keep interest in the multi-tiered franchise that has been plummeting with the wrap-up of Phase 5 with Brave New World.
Fans can also anticipate the upcoming Wonder Man series. According to our sources, the show may be related to the upcoming Shang-Chi sequel. Other sequels to which fans can look forward in the coming years include Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Thor, Shang-Chi, and the Eternals.

Literally all of the ideas and plans in this article are truly terrible. It is amazing.
There are no Avengers anymore. All the replacement Avengers are lame. And reports say that Feige wants the X-Men movie to focus on the women (‘cause that has been such a recipe for success, right???). “Lame Avengers That No One Cares About vs. X-Women (Who Are Probably Lesbians And DEFINITELY Don’t Need No Man…Unless He’s ‘Trans’)” is going to have verrry limited appeal.
The MCU is dead. Feige killed it.
