Billie Eilish Stans and Feminists Seethe: Barbie’s Ken and the Patriarchy Top Critics Choice Awards

Ryan Gosling’s summer anthem to manliness and the patriarchy won big at the Critics Choice Awards, and feminists, especially Billie Eilish fans, are furious. While Ken may feel that he’s “always number two” in the hit single, the track took home the gold for Best Song, even beating out fellow Barbie hits and the combined powers of Jack Black, Universal, and Nintendo.

The story of Barbie follows Margot Robbie’s titular character as she explores what it means to be a woman in modern society through the allegory of dolls. Ryan Gosling’s Ken became the unintentional breakout star of the film as the goofy but well-meaning sidekick, and later the cool antagonist. Lost in much of the culture war around the Greta Gerwig product was the ultimate message: men and women need each other to balance their strengths and weaknesses.

After winning at the Golden Globes, the Billie Eilish hit “What Was I Made For” from Barbie was expected to be a shoe-in for the award. This time, the raw, macho power of “Kenergy” could not be overcome.

WOW!! Taking a peek at the quote tweets of this post…FEMINISTS ARE PISSED that "I'm Just Ken" won last night LOL!!! 😂😂 https://t.co/7eKjg0Cntz

Feminists hated the addition of Ken because of his popularity. They complain that he distracts from what should be a movie completely about femininity and womanhood.

We are so astronomically back that they're gonna have to build a whole new scientific measurement calculation scale to determine just how back we are. https://t.co/4FVjVcVVvs pic.twitter.com/EN1A0lCGlg

“I’m Just Ken” won out over two other Barbie songs, “Dance the Night” and “What Was I Made For”, as well as “Peaches” from the Super Mario Bros. Movie, “That Wish” from Disney’s Wish, and “Road to Freedom” from Rustin.

Honestly, I've never felt more vindicated in my life.

What is it that feminists always say when fans complain about the M-She-U? “Cry harder”

I love how shocked and confused the Twitter mob gets when something wins on its merits rather than “The Message”. In their minds, this isn’t the way it’s supposed to work.

Bah, Barbie was a movie written by pedophiles mocking women for being mindless consumer drones.
