Some of the most acclaimed DC Comic Books of all time are getting a boxed set. Chuck Dixon and Scott Beaty wrote a beautiful trilogy of Year One books for Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl, which solidified the origins of the characters as some of the most iconic stories of all time featuring Batman’s sidekicks. Deluxe Hardcover editions of The Batman Family Year One books have been out of print and sought after by collectors for some time, making for a welcome announcement from DC Comics.

Scott Beaty posted on the set to his blog:
I’ve known about this for some time, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy until the solicitations were made public…
And now it’s OFFICIAL!
DC Comics’ hard-working Collected Editions department is releasing a box set of EVERY Year One tale encompassing what co-writer Chuck Dixon and I refer to as our “Sidekick Trifecta”!
For the first time ever, readers can get ROBIN: YEAR ONE, BATGIRL: YEAR ONE, and NIGHTWING: YEAR ONE in one fell swoop!
Check out the complete solicitation info below from DC Connect!
Scott Beaty continued:
Unfortunately, DC’s write-up doesn’t do justice to the ENTIRETY of the creative teams involved in these best-selling, critically-lauded, and fan-favorite series…
ROBIN: YEAR ONE was co-written by Scott Beatty (That’s me!) and Chuck Dixon, and illustrated by Javier Pulido, Marcos Martín, and Robert Campanella, with colors by Lee Loughridge!
BATGIRL: YEAR ONE was co-written by Chuck and me, and illustrated by Marcos Martín and Alvaro Lopez, with colors by Javier Rodriguez!
NIGHTWING: YEAR ONE was co-written by Chuck and me, and illustrated by Scott McDaniel and Andy Owens, with colors by Gregory Wright!
And that’s not all! There’s even MORE Bat-News coming down the pike very soon! Stay tuned!
Same Bat-Blog! Same Bat-Writer!

Fan reaction to Scott Beaty’s post on Facebook announcing the box set was positive, wth co-writer Chuck Dixon chiming in with “Cool!” Other fans asked about the difference between this and other editions.
Scott Beaty confirmed this followed The Batman Family Year One Deluxe Edition versions, and mentioned that they’ve been hard to find, with the Nightwing Year One Deluxe Edition reaching upwards of $200 on eBay.
Having these books back in print is a welcome addition for Batman Family fans, and allows these stories to be discovered by new readers.
