The #DignifAI movement, born on 4chan’s /pol/ board, has taken the internet by storm. Users are utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) tools to edit real pictures of scantily clad women, providing them with more modest attire, and if applicable, removing their tattoos. This DignifAI trend has sparked a heated debate on the nature of modesty, female empowerment, and the role of AI in shaping societal norms.
On January 31st, 2024, an anonymous user on 4chan’s /pol/ board called for a campaign to use an AI code, DignifAI, to edit pictures of provocatively dressed women online, ensuring they are more clothed and adhere to a traditional ideal of women. This digital modesty initiative gained traction, and on February 2nd, 2024, the hashtag #DignifAI began trending on Twitter.

With the power of AI
we will clothe the instahots
we will purify them of their tattoos
we will liberate them of their piercings
we will lengthen their skirts
It will be nearly impossible to build counter-narratives to this. We will piggyback off the outrage around AI porn and commit unrelenting psychological warfare to our ends. We will show them the lives they will never have. We will force them to gaze upon the image of true beauty, reclaimed from their own corrupted visage. We will bring decency back into the world, one seething roastie at a time.

The movement gained widespread attention when Jack Posobiec, a prominent Twitter user, shared the hashtag, resulting in over 3,500 retweets and 24,000 likes in a matter of hours. This increased visibility led to a flurry of discussions surrounding the use of DignifAI and AI, in general, to either generate pornography or clothe women; sparking debates about the control men exert over women’s attire and the expression of female sexuality.
Some Twitter users drew parallels between the #DignifAI movement and the 2017 Original vs. Un-Tumblrized controversy, which began when a user on the online platform 4chan altered a Fortnite character’s appearance to be less clothed, skinnier, and paler, labeling it “Un-Tumblrized.” This incident highlighted the tension between the pursuit of political correctness and personal aesthetic preferences.
Modesty for women is an important value that goes beyond clothing choices. It encompasses how one carries oneself and interacts with others, emphasizing the dignity and worth of a woman.
Modesty in dress involves selecting clothing that is not revealing or form-fitting, and which covers the body appropriately. This can include longer skirt and dress lengths, higher necklines, and opaque fabrics. This seems to be what the new wave of the internet is embracing.
Moreover, modesty extends to conducting oneself respectfully and considerately and being mindful of the words and actions used and their potential impact. This virtue can be practiced by all women, irrespective of their religious beliefs or cultural backgrounds. Most surprisingly of all, it was something women were taught before AI had to show them how to conduct themselves.

“Something about this image really hits deep.
It’s like a visual sysnthesis of all that has been lost–a meme in the truest, original sense of the word. I feel like if it evokes such a feeling in me then that must be mulitpulied manyfold for the target audience, and I suspect that is why it is getting such a visceral reaction. Though it’s a cliche, a picture really does sometimes say a thousand words.”
The #DignifAI movement, though controversial, has reignited conversations surrounding modesty and the role of AI in shaping societal norms. As the debate continues, it is crucial to consider the complex interplay between individual expression, cultural expectations, and the use of AI technology in defining and enforcing these values.
To be honest, it makes sense that young women will soon learn modesty from the internet thanks to artificial intelligence (AI) and clever censor edits. Movements like #DignifAI might change the direction of thottery on the internet. For women to respect themselves, modesty is a crucial virtue that extends beyond style preferences; it has to do with respecting oneself as a woman, digitality, or in the real world.

LOL. What a great trolling tool. I love the way it gets rid of tattoos and the other warning signs of mental illness, but I love tiddies so I have mixed feelings about putting their clothes back on. Unless they have fake tiddies, then yes for the love of god cover those abominations up.
