Heather Antos is back, stirring controversy in the comic industry about her victim complex again. The head of licensing at IDW has had a long track record of using her victim status to get ahead in comics while producing sub-par content and blaming fans for alleged abuse. Now, she’s comparing herself to Gina Carano for bait after having spent time attacking The Mandalorian star over her politics.
The big news of the week has been Gina Carano’s lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm, which Elon Musk is spearheading after he promised he would assist in legal fights with anyone fired for their free speech on the platform. The announcement came as welcome news to Star Wars fans, who have been eagerly awaiting Gina Carano’s return to the franchise as her character was one of the few memorable and interesting ones produced in the Disney Star Wars era.

Heather Antos took to Twitter to make the story about her as she typically does, stating, “Yo Mu$k, I’ve got a few things I’d like to talk to you about if that offer is real…” along with posting a screenshot of an article mentioning Elon Musk’s promise to help those fired over their free speech on Twitter/X.
The post is strange, as Heather Antos has arguably used the platform to propel her career, not the other way around. As an entry-level employee at Marvel, she posted the infamous milkshake picture, making her job about her gender and identity politics. Fans of the comics were worried at the time about feminism creeping into comics, which turned out to be a valid fear as so many Marvel characters have been replaced by female counterparts, and now so many self-inserting authors who aren’t talented at writing comics are dominating the franchise’s lines.
Heather Antos used the criticism to cry victim, acting like she had been taking abuse for her political postings. It resulted in Marvel Comics pushing her into higher profile assignments in their lines to virtue signal on her behalf.
Even though Heather Antos eventually quit comics for another mainstream publishing job, she came back to Valiant Comics, where she brought in her friends in her editorial position, creating a nepotistic environment that tanked the line’s sales. IDW Publishing then hired her to come onto Star Trek, where she’s produced issues that don’t follow Star Trek continuity at all, resulting in embarrassment for IDW.
After the continuity errors were reported on IDW Publishing, they instead promoted Heather Antos. Even amidst laying off more than a third of their staff, cutting their creator-owned line completely, and announcing delisting their company from the stock exchange because of their disastrous losses, Heather Antos retained her position and received a promotion again. It seems she has complete job security due to her Twitter postings, quite the opposite of the picture she painted with her recent post.
But she also has spent so much time attacking Gina Carano, who was fired because of her postings, has suffered real abuse and hate from the industry over her role in Star Wars, and has a valid case against Disney/Lucasfilm.
Heather Antos posted at the time regarding Gina Carano’s comments on the genuine oppression conservatives face, especially in artistic industries, “People didn’t ask to be born Jewish. People CHOSE to be Republican. They CHOSE to be a Nazi.”
The implication is Gina Carano deserves to be fired because somehow she’s a “Nazi” because she doesn’t vote the way Heather Antos does. Unfortunately, people like Antos don’t realize how totalitarian and outright evil they sound when they act like this—treating Republicans like Jews in Nazi Germany.
Heather Antos also retweeted Marvel Comics writer Fabian Nicieza’s rant on Gina Carano earlier this week, which resulted in the Deadpool co-creator attacking a fan viciously for disagreeing with him.
The comic industry pros suffer entitlement syndromes where they treat anyone who disagrees with them like they’re subhuman. Through nepotism and political-based promotions in the industry, they gain from harassing others and then crying victim. Heather Antos’s comments on Gina Carano were shameful, and unlike Carano, she’s only made a cottage career from her online postings.
What do you think of Heather Antos attacking Gina Carano on Twitter and then trying to act like she’s the victim? Leave a comment and let us know.
