Breaking the 4th wall Isn’t Good For She-Hulk, But It Is For Deadpool Because He’s Actually Funny

Deadpool And Wolverine recently dropped a trailer during the Superbowl and even the harshest of MCU critics seem positive to Ryan Reynolds’ third outing as the character. Fourth technically, but X-Men Origins Wolverine is a film best left forgotten.

This actually looks alright. I really liked the Patch moment. https://t.co/LLj91enVRI

It’s hard to hate Deadpool And Wolverine as just another failure waiting to happen. Especially not with the goodwill Ryan Reynolds has been able to generate after fighting to get the first Deadpool out to fans. And the concerns that “Deadpool 3” would be a watered-down mess with Disney involved were dismissed immediately with a crass joke about the studio getting pegged.

This single Ryan Reynolds scene is better than the whole She-Hulk series.

Unfortunately, one tweet has outraged the excessively vocal minority of MCU She-Hulk fans who seem not to understand why the Disney+ show was such a colossal failure. Last year the actress who played Jennifer Walters, Tatiana Maslany, even speculated there would not be a Season 2 after the disaster that was Season 1.

This is the exact same thing She-Hulk was doing in her show. Did you not watch it? https://t.co/MPQbyrTmpw

Well, She-Hulk indeed used 4th Wall breaks as the first two Deadpool films did, and the third promises to do again, the difference is rather easy for most non-shills to understand. When Deadpool does this, it’s actually funny.

The difference is that this is actually funny. https://t.co/5in3tHwtk3

Back during the promotions for She-Hulk, Jessica Gao revealed that the team first wanted to do a legal drama and that this was quickly shelved due to said team not having any idea on how to write one. Instead, they quickly pivoted to doing a legal comedy only for fans to realize they had no actual idea on how to write one of those either.

She-Hulk will be remembered mostly for the memes inspired by its atrocious production and awful ‘PS2 level’ CGI. From a writing team that was more focused on insulting its potential fanbase than actually making any attempts towards appealing to them.

The next outing with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman giving one last performance as Wolverine is absolutely doing what She-Hulk is not. It’s directly trying to appeal to fans of the characters and the comics.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be good enough to highlight just how bad the rest of Disney’s schlock really is. Bring it on!

It sure won’t revive the Marvel Zombies that are coming out after it, or pump life back into M-She-U.

Rest in Pieces, Bob Iger and Marvel Pixie Dusters!
