Epic Games Bring Avatar: TLA And LEGO To The Fortnite Battle Royale Building Fields

The popular battle royale game Fortnite is teaming up with beloved franchises Avatar The Last Airbender and LEGO for an exciting in-game event. Sources say Fortnite will introduce new cosmetic items and game modes featuring characters and themes from both Avatar and LEGO starting next week.

Epic Games recently announced a new initiative that will allow Fortnite players to design their own in-game maps and game modes, then sell them to other players for real money. The move aims to empower Fortnite’s creative community while also providing new revenue streams for both players and Epic.

Players can expect to see Aang, Katara, Sokka, Zuko, and other fan favorites from Avatar arriving as new playable character skins. Benders will likely have elemental-themed emotes, while non-benders like Sokka could have boomerang or sword items. An Avatar-themed Limited Time Mode may focus on building and battling using the four elements.

On the LEGO side, players may be able to construct their own LEGO-style structures out of bricks to take cover behind. There could also be LEGO-inspired pickaxes, back bling, and other cosmetics featuring popular LEGO sets like Ninjago City and licensed themes like Star Wars. The rumors of LEGO-based Fortnite mapmaking might open the doors to an online market centered on LEGO.

Fortnite’s user-generated content marketplace already enable players to use Fortnite’s robust Creative mode tools to construct personalized maps and tweak game settings to their liking. Whether building elaborate platforming challenges, complex combat arenas, or even non-violent spaces to hang out with friends, creators will have broad flexibility.

Once published, other players can access these player-made experiences by spending V-Bucks, Fortnite’s virtual currency purchased with real cash. Epic Games take a percentage of the profits from all user-generated content sales. For top performers and creators, this means their unique Fortnite creations could generate impressive real-world earnings. With over 350 million registered players globally, even niche Fortnite maps could attract sizable, lucrative audiences for their inventive designers.

The crossover event will run for two weeks and include special quests and challenges to earn exclusive character styles, toys, and more Avatar and LEGO goodies. Data miners have uncovered clues pointing to a giant LEGO Appa glider or perhaps even a rideable sky bison for Air Nation appreciates.

The company hopes this will motivate players to push Creative mode to its limits while keeping the game fresh and exciting. Fortnite’s publisher, Epic Games, is no stranger to pop culture crossovers, having previously partnered with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and many more. Combining forces with both Avatar and LEGO is sure to delight millions of fans, young and old. Players worldwide eagerly anticipate jumping into the brick-building battle royale bonanza very soon!
