The Soska Sisters joined Eric July’s Rippaverse last year, announced as the writers and editors of the hotly anticipated book, Yaira, which will be coming soon. The Soska Sisters have worked on Marvel Comics Black Widow and made their own works, and readers might be interested in seeing where their influences are when it comes to producing Yaira.
Fandom Pulse asked The Soska Sisters who their favorite female heroes were to get a glimpse into their perspective and answer the question as to what we might expect from their Rippaverse offerings. Their list is here:

10. Aunt May— one of Marvel’s greatest unsung heroes. While she never wore a cape and never uttered, “with great power comes great responsibility”, she was Peter’s guiding force. Aunt May raised Peter alone after she became a widow. She set him on the path of being a good man early on and he wouldn’t have been the man or hero he was without her or her unconditional love.
9. Wonder Woman— she is just perfect. She is truthful, honorable, strong, and would always extend a hand in friendship before striking out with violence. Princess Diana is someone we can all aspire to be more like. I love her so much I named my Rottweiler Princess Diana.
8. Catwoman— higher up on the list as Selina does as she pleases and toes the line of the law. I love how true she is to herself and desires. She’s playful, she’s deadly, and she has the best fashion sense. Her costumes throughout the years are all gorgeous.
7. Xena— nothing as cool as a hero with a dark past who is trying to do better. Xena was the embodiment of choosing good after being lost to darkness. She took no shit. She kicked ass. She was death personified. And she fought like a total badass.
6. Painkiller Jane— we love how Jimmy Palmiotti writes women and Jane is the most badass chick hero of all time. Jane is relentless but still beneath all her tough bravado has a heart of gold and would do anything for her loved ones.
5. Buffy— So much of who I am today came from Buffy Summers being my hero growing up. She was a great friend. She messed up but never gave up. She would keep going even when everything and everyone was against her. She was willing to die to save her friends. Twice.
4. Black Widow— Nat was a personal favorite for years, even before we write for her. She is a ferocious survivor, not a victim. I love that she rises above everything she’s been through. She always has an element of mystery to her, the feeling that she’s holding more cards than she lets on. She’s deadly, deceptive, and can seamlessly fit in to any and every situation.
3. Rogue— she was Jen’s favorite growing up and the first superhero I wanted to be when I grew up. She was just so cool. She was strong and sexy and could fly, but she was also really lonely because she couldn’t touch anyone. Rogue was really tragic in that way and tortured by her powers.

2. Storm— she was Sylvie’s first favorite superhero. Storm was collected and cool because her powers are controlled by her emotions. Storm was fearless. She could lead both the X-men and the Morlocks. When she “lost” her powers she proved that Ororo Munroe was far from powerless.
1. Yaira— what can we say? She’s awesome. Yaira is everything that’s been missing in the superhero space. She’s someone everyone can enjoy. Yaira is a powerhouse with a rich, mysterious past. It’s a privilege to write her. We look forward to writing her for many years to come.
Placing Yaira first might be a little bit of self-promotion, but we’ll give the Soska Sisters a pass as they are certainly excited about their upcoming Rippaverse release, as are their fans. We’ve seen a lot of cosplay already involving the character and it will be interesting to see where they take the concept in their graphic novel.
What do you think of the Soska Sisters’ female hero influences for Yaira and the Rippaverse? Leave a comment and let us know.

The fact a supposedly devout guy like JDA would be holding water for these weirdo degenerates is one of the most appalling things I’ve seen in a while…
Thvf says
I assume EVS put you on that but to be fair he and EVS still talk to Chrissie and other weirdos EVS is friends with pedos, cucks, and gays.
Furdherder says
CONGRATULATIONS! You just used a logical fallacy, specifically the “whataboutism” or “tu quoque” fallacy; EVS et al could pal around with Pol Pot, Charles Manson and Ming the Merciless, yet the personal or professional interactions of EVS et al are completely IMMATERIAL to either:
1. The Soska sister’s degeneracy.
OR
2. Supposedly devout JDA’s hypocritical simping of said Soska sisters.
You have presented NO counter-argument, and have only attempted to deflect from my original observations.

He’s friends with others who are worse it’s not a surprise that Chrissie girl is a sex worker that interviews p stars he’s defended her, Vito is a liberal pedo, EVS hangs out with liberals and turned on Mike S Miller for being anti-gay he’s friends with both, Mike Baron has created gay characters Jon is also friends with him, Jon likes Berserk, and Jon likes manga and BD.
Richard says
It’s clear this is Vito or EVS the Soska’s have found God claims by Eric and they were blacklisted from Marvel and DC for friendship with Eric. Jon did an interview with Erik Larsen look that creep up but it was just an interview he’s just doing that.
Tom says
How he’s friends with Vito the pedo and EVS who hates ultra conservatives just look at their backgrounds he’s defended Chrissie Mayre too who’s a sex worker and married her husband pimps her Jon’s a California Republican.
Dan says
Hail the Rippaverse. Can’t wait for Yaira.
Good article

Love content like this! I’d move Buffy higher, but that makes things like this so enjoyable. More of this, JDA. 🙂
Tecv says
Jon you and Mike S Miller should pitch to the Rippaverse or maybe you and Razor Fist pitch a sci-fi title for RippaSend or Rippaverse,
