Cirsova Magazine has been a fan-favorite for science fiction and fantasy ever since many discovered it via its nomination for the Hugo Awards years ago. Offering something different, a return to action-adventure pulp, it’s the perfect magazine for the Iron Age for reading. Their Spring Issue #18 just dropped on Friday, and here’s what readers can expect.
Cirsova Magazine of Thrilling Adventure and Daring Suspense returns in 2024 with its Spring issue, #18 (31 overall), featuring 11 complete stories, the first installment of Michael Tierney’s all-new Wild Stars novel, and the latest installment of James Hutchings’ longform poetic adaptation of A Princess of Mars.
This issue features a lot of returning talent, including Frank Sawielijew with a sequel to last year’s Curse of the Iron Moon, a new Burke Fletcher sword & raygun adventure from Richard Rubin, a Pendleton’s World tale from J. Comer, a space merc story from Jed Jalico Del Rosario, and a cyberthriller from Louise Sorensen. This issue also features the first Howie K. Bentley story in Cirsova since 2016.
New talent includes Julie Frost, Andrew Reichard, W.E. Wertenberger, Kevan Larson, and William Drell.
Beginning in 2021, the serialization of Michael Tierney’s long-running Wild Stars space opera series has become a regular feature of Cirsova Magazine, and this year is no different. The Superior Griefs represents the culmination of several long-running plots, bringing most, if not all, of the series’ main characters to the “present” timeline (the 23rd century) as the leaders of disparate factions of highly intelligent predatory reptiles converge on Earth. To promote this new installment, Cirsova Publishing is giving away free sets of Wild Stars trading cards while supplies last.
This issue’s cover is by Usanekorin of Collateral Damage Studios.
In 2024, Cirsova Magazine expanded to nearly 200 pages of regular content, cramming more action and adventure into each issue than ever before. Despite this, Cirsova has maintained its cover price at $14.99 for softcover and $3.99 for an ebook .
