Columbia Pictures’ latest Ghostbusters film features a lesbian romance between a fifteen year-old girl and a friendly forlorn ghost. The relationship is tame enough that some viewers might be able to overlook the romantic overtones of their relationship, at least until the fifteen year-old girl starts trying to figure out a way to ‘touch’ her newfound friend by temporarily transforming herself into a ghost.
While Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire has plenty of harmless jokes and visual gags, it also has exceptionally blunt sex jokes that surpass the level of innuendo. Any parent who takes their children to see this film will probably find their children asking on the way home, “Daddy, what’s a sex dungeon?” In the film, there is also suggestive imagery involving the “Slimer” creature passing through a young man’s face.
While Paul Rudd’s stepfather character is mostly likable, there is a scene where he and his wife (Carrie Coon) unashamedly have an innuendo-laden conversation in front of their children (Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace).
While some viewers may choose to overlook this sort of thing, any discerning audience member can tell that the filmmakers’ agenda in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire involves planting sexual imagery and sexual language in the minds of children, and normalizing the use of sexual language in the vicinity of children.

A child who is exposed to this sort of thing might not immediately turn into a deviant, but they will begin to view it as “normal” and it will make them less likely to instinctively flee from a groomer’s advances.
Does Hollywood seriously think audiences won’t notice when they “telegraph” their sexual deviancy out into the world? Everybody knows that Harvey Weinstein was just the tip of the iceberg. Everybody knows Hollywood is full of sexual deviants and pedophiles.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is full of spectacular visuals and action-adventure sure to enthrall young minds, but adults who remember the original film and the Saturday morning cartoon may find the story disappointing. Children, of course, will be mostly oblivious to the sexual programming being beamed into their brains, but their parents should know better.
There is one vaguely wholesome plotline about the daughter learning to trust her father’s judgment, but it is very toned down and ultimately gets drowned out by girl-power themes.

Reviews of the Sony-released film have been mixed. Regarding the clunky lesbian romance, Gary “Nerdrotic” Beuchler said, “They needed to check boxes. It’s their internal DEI thing. Tom Rothman runs Sony, so they’re going to be very clumsy and cheap about it. Disney is an evil company, Warner Bros. is a dumb company, and Sony is a cheap company.”
Chris Gore from Film Threat criticized the movie for having too many B-plots but was pleased by its run time and gave it a “mild recommendation”. Gore also reported that audiences appeared to be relishing the experience, coming to the theatre in costumes and T-shirts.
Film Threat’s Allan Ng said, “This is not the Ghostbusters that I remember, but I can’t say they’ve ruined it. I think they’ve found a way to progress it and hand it off to a new generation.”
Az from HeelvsBabyface described the film as being about a girl who’s “too young to be a Ghostbuster, but not too young to get involved in a lesbian relationship”.

Sigh. Smh. Smh. God forbid Egon’s granddaughter be a straight white girl. Woke elements too? Ugh!!!! Not sure if I even want to rent it at this point. Another reviewer on Bounding Into Comics said the movie just wasn’t that good overall.

That’s definitely not the first time Finn Wolfhard has had goo on his face.
