In her latest YouTube video popular streamer Melonie Mac expressed her support for Grummz’ 8 step plan for Stellar Blade. She highlighted Sony’s notorious post release censorship of Stellar Blade. The latest victims? Not just the outfits, but also some of the game’s gory elements, integral to game-play. Melonie Mac pointed out that the inconsistency is staggering, especially considering the leniency granted to similar content in other titles, if not more extreme examples. It’s a stark display of double standards that has left many scratching their heads, wondering why Stellar Blade is being singled out for such treatment.

One example she discussed was Manga lawyer’s shared tweet showcasing the censorship of gore in Stellar Blade before and after a patch. Pre-patch, blood was splattered all over Eve, but post-patch, it was dramatically reduced. This discrepancy is baffling. There are other games like Bloodborne from 2015 with uncensored blood, yet Stellar Blade is being censored. Melonie Mac added that it is absurd.
Melonie Mac also pointed out the inconsistency with outfits and content. She used as example The Last of Us Part II, which features gratuitous sexual scenes that many of us would rather not watch and need eye bleach for. Yet, a simple, cute swimsuit outfit in Stellar Blade gets censored, despite it being something any normal woman would wear at the beach. The double standard is glaring.

Many advocate for boycotting the game as a form of protest, but Melonie Mac disagrees with that approach. She said that while it’s understandable if individuals choose not to purchase the game, using it as a protest tactic plays right into the hands of these woke companies. They thrive on controversy and negative attention. Whether it’s Stellar Blade, Tombraider Remastered, or instances like Crystal Dynamics pushing for censorship, these companies don’t want these games to succeed. By abstaining from purchasing them, we inadvertently give them exactly what they want.

Melonie Mac acknowledged that it’s a challenging situation, but in complex scenarios like this, simplistic solutions like boycotting may not be the most effective. She expressed her support for the Grummz 8 step plan to make Shift Up bring back the original designs in Stellar Blade. She said that, “I’m tired of seeing these double standards persist—it’s infuriating. If Sony applied the same standards consistently across the board, it might be more tolerable. But the fact that they’re censoring Stellar Blade while turning a blind eye to other games with far more explicit content, like Baldur’s Gate’s bear scene or The Last of Us Part II’s explicit scenes, is outrageous. We need to raise our voices and demand change.”
Melonie Mac concluded that we need to raise more awareness about this issue, and urged everyone to check out Grummz’ X thread and contribute spread awareness. Hopefully, our collective efforts can make a difference.

Agree!
I bought the game as well, because the demo was beautiful and alot of fun. If I had Playstation Plus, I would have canceled. Post-release censorship is a horrifying trend. Between this and the remaster of first three Tomb Raiders, this needs to stop.
