The failed former EIC of The Escapist Magazine, Nick Calandra, has been obsessively stalking Mark Kern on X for the past 2 months, and now it transpires that this creepy behaviour has escalated to a point where it has become a threat to the personal safety not only of Mark Kern, but also the personal safety of Kern’s family.
Mark Kern (@Grummz) posted screenshots to X showing how Nick Calandra encourages his followers to stalk Mark Kern. Of great concern is that one of failed former EIC of The Escapist Magazine, Nick Calandra’s followers posted Mark Kern’s home address on Calandra’s Discord channel.
Mark Kern posted to X saying: “I just got Doxed. My family has been doxed. Second Wind and former EIC of Escapist, Nick Calandra @jnickjcal, has weaponized his Discord server and is encouraging his thousands of patreon supporters to dox me. They did. And unlike certain other journalists who don’t post receipts, I will. My addresses were posted, among other details about people they assume are me.”

Failed former EIC of The Escapist Magazine, Nick Calandra is desperate to find some dirt on Mark Kern, yet after two months of stalking he hasn’t been able to find anything to support a hit-piece on Mark Kern. This creepy behaviour by Calandra took a dangerous turn when he encouraged his followers to stalk Mark Kern to “find stuff,” this notably after one of his followers posted Mark Kern’s address to the Discord server.
As Mark Kern pointed out on X: “Instead, Nick encouraged them to do more, and to avoid further TOS violations, asked that the information be sent to him in secret to avoid @discord disciplinary action.” Kern said he had already received death threats from: “This is disgusting behavior, and a dangerous one. There have been multiple, documented threats on my life, including cash bounties, and Nick is happy to enable these violent people and arm them with the information that could lead to violence against myself, my wife, and my children.”
Mark Kern confirmed that he did contact the local police: “Deleted my post about my call with my local PD. Too much info. Suffice to say, I did talk to them.”
