With the series addition to Disney Plus, ‘Sunfire’ now bears a 12-second disclaimer before the episode officially plays, which warns viewers that “this program includes negative depictions and/or mistreatment of people or cultures,” based solely on the fact that Starfire and Genju were portrayed as speaking with stereotypical-sounding Japanese accents, and notes that “these stereotypes were wrong then and are wrong now.”
“Rather than remove this content, we want to acknowledge its harmful impact, learn from it and spark conversation to create a more inclusive future together,” the company affirms in the disclaimer. “Disney is committed to creating stories with inspirational and aspirational themes that reflect the rich diversity of the human experience around the globe. To learn more about how stories have impacted society, visit: www.Disney.com/StoriesMatter.”
This is the lamest, weakest generation of all time. It’s amazing anyone accomplishes anything when they spend all of their time being offended.
