The Incentive of E-Drama YouTube Videos

December 18, 2020 by Jon Del Arroz Leave a Comment

It’s funny, but there’s a contingent of people out there who all make videos about other YouTube folk in order to try to get their attention to make more videos about how they “owned” them by getting their attention.

It’s pretty sad.

There’s whole channels dedicated to this, and I’ve seen a little ecosystem of it over the last year and a half. They grow to the point of getting a few hundred subscribers, get a couple of hundred views on these types of videos and stagnate unless they can get bigger and different targets to respond.

They also don’t want to hit too big of targets, because if there’s too big a target they get a pile on effect against htem which will harm them more than it will grow their channels. But they thrive on negative energy and attention for the most part.

To what end? I ask that myself. It’s part of our culture now that ‘being seen’ is more important than anything else to people. All attention is good attention for folk, so instead of putting the effort into building something or creative energy like I do, they go for attacking someone like myself who’s getting the work done.

I guess it’s a matter of talent (or lack of). But talent can come with putting in hard work. It’s bizarre, because five years from now, what is someone going to gain from making a video about me that’s raeging angrily about one of my tweets?

I think they’ll find that the content on trying to tear down what I’m building as an alternative to the mainstream entertainment field won’t get them far. There’s not a huge audience for attacking me on repeat. Then again, some people (like the purveyors of File 770) don’t care, and will keep at it for years because they’re just sick people.

It’s an odd world out there. Back to writing the nexts Aryshan War book!

Well good sir I know razorfist usually makes a good video ranting about his attackers although he seems vastly more able to make petty rants palatable. Still I do not follow you for that style of entertainment.

Razorfist is very different. He makes great videos about games, Deep Space 9, pulp stuff. And you pointed out another key difference — making videos about people who attack HIM. Not attacking people to get content from their responses.

Well I would say attacking content creators is justifiable in cases like well cuties.
