Youtuber MasteroftheTDS has uncovered a thread of tweets suggesting that Disney, or affiliated parties, may be using paid blue check bots or coordinated groups to boost their shows and movies. This method aims to manipulate algorithms and boost visibility. Youtuber WDW Pro has also investigated MasteroftheTDS’ revelation of Disney’s manipulation of social media. But MasteroftheTDS may have exposed something even worse. It appears that Disney may have employed bots or paid humans to engage in a harassment campaign aimed at Gina Carano.
MasteroftheTDS opened a can of words when he posted on X: “Below is a thread of tweets of Disney, or someone involved with them, potentially using paid blue check bots or coordinated groups to promote their shows and movies. I have already made a video covering this in detail which will be linked at the end of this thread. If you choose to cover these posts in a video or article, please be sure to credit me, as this took months of research, and if you could shout out my video on the subject, that would be appreciated.”

MasteroftheTDS meticulously documented these instances, highlighting the repetitive nature of these tweets and their potential non-human origins. The volume and similarity in the wording of such activity suggests a concerted effort to manipulate social media conversations. These blue check accounts, though possibly a mix of real and fake, contribute to the illusion of widespread enthusiasm for Disney properties. It’s concerning because it distorts genuine public sentiment and can even be used to counter opposing narratives. Here are the shows in connection with which the suspicious tweet activity occurred:
Doctor Who: Sarah Hamilton shares “exciting news” about the upcoming Doctor Who series followed by a slew of blue check marks and non-blue check marks in the comments expressing excitement. Doctor Who doesn’t seem to be doing well though.
Echo: Again, there are virtually identical tweets with the same content and gifs, both from blue check marks and non-blue check marks.
The Eternals: There is a long praising tweet from an account with 21,000 views but no likes, followed by numerous similarly worded replies.

Loki: A tweet from a blue check account about Loki with a million views, but interestingly, the account is responding to every single tweet in the replies, sometimes even adding itself.
Percy Jackson, Secret Invasion, The Marvels, WandaVision, What If?, X-Men 97: The same trends are evident with different Disney properties, with similar patterns of responses from both blue check marks and non-blue check marks.
Whether this manipulation is directly orchestrated by Disney or facilitated by marketing agencies seeking to enhance performance metrics is unclear. However, what is evident is the pervasive use of fake engagement to artificially inflate interest in Disney content.
WDW Pro weighed in on YouTube and delved into the ongoing investigation by MasteroftheTDS, exposing the potential manipulation of social media by entertainment giants like Disney. This video highlights the uncovering of a thread of tweets suggesting the use of paid blue check bots or coordinated groups to promote Disney shows and movies.

WDW Pro also noted that the volume of such activity indicates a concerted effort to manipulate algorithms and boost visibility, raising concerns about the distortion of genuine public sentiment.
Even more concerning is that MasteroftheTDS may have uncovered a targeted harassment campaign against Gina Carano. “Just a small taste of what is to come,” and added: “I don’t believe these are bots, but definitely proof of a coordinated harassment campaign at the very least.”
Gina Carano, who has been the victim of Disney’s unfair politicised labour practices, announced on 6 February that she is about to sue Disney. It appears that this targeted harassment campaign against Gina Carano kicked off a mere three days later.
