Jon Malin (Cable), Shane Davis (Wonder Woman, Superman: Earth One), and Ethan Van Sciver (Green Lantern, New X-Men) were set to host a table at the C2E2 convention to the delight of fans across the internet who wanted to see many legendary comic artists in person for the first time, but according to Jon Malin, the convention canceled their booth with just five weeks to go before the convention.
Jon Malin, Shane Davis, and Ethan Van Sciver had been planning to attend C2E2 since last year, when they announced a joint crowdfund filled with new exclusive variant covers of their creator-owned works to fund a giant booth to allow their legions of fans to come and interact with them in person. Getting booths as celebrity comic artists is something standard in the industry as we see fan-favorite artists such as J. Scott Campbell, Billy Tucci and more set up at conventions regularly.
While all three of these men have been to various conventions before, and there’s never been any allegations that they made threats, caused harm, or did anything other than what standard industry professionals do when interacting with their fans – selling sketches, giving autographs, and taking pictures, C2E2 allegedly took it upon themselves to cancel these creators.
Jon Malin first posted on the subject to X:
Cancel culture is alive and well at@C2E2
5 weeks before the show we have suddenly been removed as exhibitors due to allegations of making non specific “offensive” comments. We are artists, publishers and YouTube entertainers that also talk politics with sometimes edgy humor…can we be offensive? Absolutely. Are we criminals or harassers? No. Conservatives? Yes. Your peers? Yes.
C2E2 also alleges that Shane Davis (booth was under his company name) was “subletting” his booth by having others sit in. We have never hidden our intentions from C2E2. We were told to list the booth under a single company by them. Had we known there was an issue for our 20X20 PREMIERE exhibitor booth, we would have divided the 20×20 into 4 10X10 booths and asked for them to be combined. If there was an issue, why weren’t we approached with a chance to find a solution after spending thousands of dollars?
They wanted us out.
I fully expect our industry to turn another blind eye to this incident and take no stand whatsoever against this monstrous behavior that continues to rot our industry from the inside.
We would like C2E2 to reinstate our booth. C2E2 has a chance to be on the right side of history and end this shameful practice of Cancel Culture for comic book conservatives in 2024.

Ethan Van Sciver followed up with a quote tweet, saying:
Jon speaks for me, here. I don’t have much to add, except to say that it’s a sobering reminder of the struggle that built ComicsGate, and how necessary it still is.
As much as I want to meet the fans, I don’t want to spend my money, or ask you to spend yours, at or near such a blatantly hostile and discriminatory event as C2E2.
There are no shortcuts here. We really do need For The Fans Fest, and let’s begin putting it together now.
The three men live-streamed about the topic, voicing their disappointment. Ethan Van Sciver believes the matter is political in nature, saying, “They’re still mad Trump won in 2016, and that will never change.”
Conventions have had a long history of canceling conservative creators, with beloved authors like John Ringo and Larry Correia being subject to harsh cancelations from Con Carolinas and Origins Game Fair, respectively. DC Injustice Artist Mike S. Miller faced a similar cancelation from Grand Rapids Comic-Con in 2018 when they were originally having him fly out as a featured guest but bowed to pressure from internet trolls attempting to smear the Christian creator.
Fandom Pulse has contacted C2E2 for comment, but they have not replied as of the writing of this article. However, their recent posts on X are getting flooded with disappointed fans who want justice for Ethan Van Sciver, Jon Malin, and Shane Davis.
What do you think of Ethan Van Sciver, Jon Malin, and Shane Davis getting canceled from C2E2? Leave a comment and let us know.

No one more bigoted and malicious than the modern social justice warrior.

C2E2 are clearly Marxist pigs.
Coaba says
No surprise what did they expect? What happened to ComicsGate Con EVS said he would fund that in Orlando years ago but it never happened. These guys should worry about delivering their projects Godlike, Reignbow, Inglorious 2, Cyberfrog 3, Snowman, Axcend, the toys, and Graveyard 5 should focus on those late projects instead of trying to have convention spaces in these sjw hives and then shitting on the Rippaverse and others. Deliver on your titles and show Eric that way expand into animation, games, and live-action that’s how you show Eric because right now he’s looking better because he delivers.
Trev says
Exactly they’re just jealous of Eric and trying to replicate his con appearances or the FNT convention appearances the differences are those were con’s that invited them. These guys are looking to get back in the mainstream. They cheered when Mike gets banned.
Koolaidbomber says
Spot on!!
I have been saying something similar. I wish they would cut the drama, and compete with Eric July. Nothing pushes other to improve then competition.
Ytdc says
They’re threatened by him also EVS is in bed with the elites like Ben Shapiro who doesn’t support Jesus. He attacks Eric for hiring the Soska’s and minor delays meanwhile he has multiple delays, he kicked out Mike for being anti-gay, he called Vox a klan member, and he claims Eric can’t take criticism he can’t take it and he doesn’t give his sycophants the same criticism only those who turn on him or hang with those he dislikes like he turned on Gabe and now lies about him. It’s clear EVS is a grifter liberal he was also pro vaccine when Eric wasn’t he exposed himself so many times it’s clear he’s against the parallel economy, he’s against alt tech, he likes mainstream garbage, supports Nike and woke companies, he supports corporations with his backer’s money, he complains about minor work, he has time to live stream and Twitter beef but not fulfill campaigns from 2018 like Reignbow the Brute and launch more that he can’t fulfill. He’s friends with liberals too despite his hate with Eric being over working with non conservatives he defends Geoff Johns who’s woke, he attacked Candace Owens, Alex Jones, and Crowder over their views, he worships Trump for the grift, he hates Kanye for exposing Trump. Shane and Jon might want to get off the boat soon. EVS hangs out with pedos now too like Vito and Dick who are satanist and liberals too so his argument makes no sense, he’s defended McFarlane, Erik Larsen, and other libtards. The guy lies like crazy my guess is Daily Wire hires him or Geoff Johns hires him. Rekieta is the same another liar. There’s 4Chan rumors of EVS being gay himself I mean he voted for Bush. Funny how he’s apologized to Liam now.
Neon says
Why were they going anyway? They know how woke it is. SDCC was desperate so they let Eric by and Anime Matsuri invited others before like Eric so he went. You guys should have stuck with Eric instead of getting jealous and bashing him. You proved his point you lack the business mind he didn’t in this case.
