Shocking news dropped following the finalization of casting for the Fantastic Four (which includes Pedro Pascal), Julia Garner has been cast to play a female version of the Silver Surfer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Julia Garner is an actress known for her performances across film and television. Born on February 1, 1994, in the Bronx, New York, Garner began her acting career at a young age, making her Broadway debut at just 17. She rose to prominence with her role as Ruth Langmore in the hit Netflix series “Ozark,” for which she won critical acclaim and an Emmy Award. Garner has showcased her talent in various films, including “Martha Marcy May Marlene,” “The Perks of Being a Wallflower,” and “Electrick Children.”
Of course, not everyone is happy about the Shalla-Bal news. Many fans point out that the Silver Surfer is just another sex-swapped character, to the point that the MCU has become little more than a gag.
Fans are sick of the MCU changing their characters. In recent years we’ve seen Thor become a woman, Loki also bait-and-switched into a female character, Captain America turned into a black man, and it’s been a rumor that Silver Surfer would be feminized through this process, but few thought Disney would go that far with the MCU.
While it is obvious that the Silver Surfer Julia Garner would play is equivalent to the Earth-9997 Shalla-Bal version, something which was done in Marvel Comics as a brief alternate universe event in the Earth X series, people were enraged at why the main Silver Surfer cast is a woman (since many people know the Silver Surfer as a man, like in his very first live-action depiction in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer).
In mainline Marvel Comics, Shalla-Bal is actually the lover of the original Silver Surfer, Norrin Radd. This means that the male (Norrin Radd) Silver Surfer should exist in the MCU. But as of now, this theory that Norrin Radd would appear in the MCU hasn’t been confirmed yet. Let’s hope for Norrin Radd to appear in the MCU.

RIP Disney.
I bailed on MCU at End Game. Didn’t see it. So AFAIK, MCU ceased to exist at the Thanos snap. And I’m happy to leave it at that. All this woke trash since then is dead to me.
It is foolish to hope an IP can walk off the effects of its own murder.
